Fountain Lounge, Hyatt Hotel : Having Tea like a Royal

Lately in our beloved city of Jakarta, High Tea has been quite famous and more and more people wanting to experience a high tea session just like the Royals. 
In England, the traditional time for tea was four or five o'clock and no one stayed after seven o'clock. Most tea rooms today serve tea from three to five o'clock. The menu has also changed from tea, bread, butter and cakes, to include three particular courses served specifically in this order:
Savories - Tiny sandwiches or appetizers
Scones - Served with jam and clotted cream
Pastries - Cakes, cookies, sweets

So, after browsing for a place to have high tea in Jakarta, I decided to head to The Fountain Lounge in Hyatt Hotel with my mom and aunt on a Sunday. 
The view from the lounge was spectacular, you can see 360 view of the popular Hotel Indonesia roundabout. It was really crowded that day, I arrived a few minutes before 4 PM and the only seats available is in the smoking area. So I didn't really take a lot of pictures of the lounge.

But here are some photos of my High Tea set, cost at 269K++ includes 2 drinks where you can choose between their wide selections of TWG teas and coffees.

The bottom : Plain and raisin scones with jam and clotted cream, chocolate muffins

The middle : Tuna croissant, mini sandwiches and smoked ham sandwich

The top : Apple crumble, cheese cake, chocolate mousse, raspberry tarts and macaroons

For the drinks we ordered : TWG grand wedding and a cup of cappuccino

Final verdict : To be honest despite the pretty settings, all the finger foods and cakes are only acceptable, nothing really special. I've tested better cakes. The scones were super dry and tasteless. The Macaroons and chocolate mousse were super sweet. 

The savories section in the middle was only okay. The only thing I enjoyed was the apple crumble. 

My favorite scones were the one from the Kempi Deli. They are closed for renovation now. I miss their beautiful crumbly moist scones.

Will I come back? nope. My search for high tea continues.
