My Cooking : Macaroni Schotel

Hello everyone,

One of my passion is cooking. I love to cook for my family and loved ones. One of my all time favorite recipe is my Macaroni Panggang or Macaroni Schotel. This recipe is super easy to bake, I baked this on Sundays, and enjoy them with my family during tea time. So, I want to share this recipe with you.

Ingredients :
1 packet of macaroni (225 grams)
50 g butter
50 gr onions
50 gr flour
500 cc of milk / evaporated milk
1/2 cans of corned beef / canned Maling ham
125 gr grated cheese / Parmesan cheese reggiano
100 grams of smoked ham or beef cut in julienne (matchstick)
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground pepper
3 eggs beaten briefly
Chopped parsley (optional)

Cooking Directions :
1. Boil water with a little salt, boil until cooked macaroni
2. Drain, flush with cold water and put a little of butter so the macaronis won't stick to each other
3. Saute the onions in butter until softened, add in the flour
4. Add milk, bring to a boil, keep stirring until smooth
5. Add the corned beef, 100 grams grated cheese, smoked ham and boiled macaroni and stir well. Add the salt, nutmeg, and pepper, stir and remove from the heat
6. Add the eggs and mixed thoroughly
7. Brushed a heat resistant / pan (sometimes I use a disposable pan made of aluminium foil) with butter.
8. Placed macaroni into the pan. Flatten, sprinkle with the remaining grated cheese (you can add chopped Parsley too)
9. Bake in a hot oven temperature of 180 C for 35 minutes or until macaroni turn yellow-brown in color.
